Tracy James Hearing

An award-winning service in West Berkshire

Independent Audiology.
Personalised Hearing Care

At Tracy James Hearing (TJH) in Newbury, Berkshire, we take pride in offering a personal, tailored approach to hearing care that truly makes a difference. Unlike high street hearing care chains, we are an independent clinic, dedicated to putting your needs first. Our independence means we have the freedom to offer a wide range of hearing aids from multiple leading manufacturers, ensuring you receive the best options available, not just a limited selection.

Our goal is to provide you with consistent, compassionate care throughout your hearing journey, with one dedicated audiologist working closely with you every step of the way. We are proud to have built long-lasting relationships with many of our clients, some of whom we've supported for years—and that's exactly how we believe hearing care should be.

With over 40 years of combined experience in both private and NHS audiology services, Tracy James and Louise Hart bring deep expertise to every consultation. Specialising in adult hearing care and children's hearing services, we cater to individuals with a range of hearing and ear care needs, from general hearing loss to more complex conditions such as dementia, APD, developmental disorders, and tinnitus.

OUR CORE VALUES

Hearing Assessments and diagnosis for adults and children

Our clinical training and experience in the NHS means that we’ve seen some of the most complex cases in terms of diagnosis of hearing loss in adults and children, tinnitus, dementia care, children and adults with complex needs and severe to profound hearing loss.

Once we’ve measured the hearing and checked the ears, we will advise you of hearing levels and next steps, whether that be onward referral or treatment to a medical professional, tinnitus/hearing therapy or advice regarding the suitability of hearing aids.

We work and liase with GPs and other professionals including Speech and Language Therapists, ENT, Education and key workers so we can make onward referrals where necessary regarding your ear health.

We keep up to date with the latest research around hearing loss, tinnitus and hearing aids.

Impartial hearing aid advice

At Tracy James Hearing we offer an extensive range of hearing aids from different manufacturers, rather than being tied to just one or two suppliers. Being completely independent means we will always recommend the best hearing aid device for you, rather than focusing on sales. Nearly all hearing aids come with a five year warranty and free aftercare. We also offer up to four free microsuction wax removals a year or unlimited manual wax removals while your hearing aids are in warranty.

Does it matter where you buy your earing aid?

Yes. The difference between a good and bad choice isn't usually the aid itself, since most are made by just a handful of manufacturers. The standard of professional fitting and the service given by the provider matters more.

It can take time to fit and adjust so that it's working to maximise your hearing. Without a careful and attentive fitting service, you could get frustrated and give up on your aid.

Satisfaction scores vary significantly based on where you buy, as 81% of local independent retailer customers were satisfied with their aids compared with 68% of customers of one of the biggest brands.
